Setting up Outlook 2007 as Pop3 or IMAP
Instructions and examples of setting up Outlook 2007 as an IMAP or POP3 account (these instructions are specific to Morditech.com web hosting)
- Open Outlook then click ‘tools > Account Settings’
- Make sure the email tab is selected and click ‘new’
- check the box at the bottom left of the ‘Auto Account Setup’ screen that says “manually configure server settings or additional server types” then click next.
- Select “Internet E-Mail” on the ‘Choose E-mail Service” screen then click next
- on the ‘Inter E-mail Settings’ screen do the following:
- Type your name or company name in the field labeled ‘Your Name’
- Type the email address you are setting this account up for in the ‘E-mail Address’ field
- Select the type of account you would like this to be (POP3 or IMAP) in the ‘Account Type’ drop down menu
- In the ‘Icoming mail server’ and ‘Outgoing mail server’ fields type your domain name. For example: If your email address is ’stephen@yourdomain.com’ then you would type ‘yourdomain.com’ in the mail server fields.
- Your ‘User Name’ must be your full email address (shown above)
- Type the appropriate password for this email account in the ‘Password’ field (shown above)
- Click the ‘More Settings’ button (Do not click the Next button)
- Click the ‘Outgoing Server’ tab on the ‘Internet E-mail Settings’ screen
- Check the ‘My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
- select the option labeled ‘Use same settings as my incoming mail server’ then click the ‘Advanced’ tab
- On the advanced tab settings change the ‘Outgoing server (SMTP) port number to 587 then click ‘OK’
- Back on the ‘Internet E-mail settings’ screen click ‘Next’
- On the ‘Congratulations’ screen click ‘Finish’
Now your Outlook 2007 is complete. You should be able to send and receive emails!
