Allow Email Address As Login Name

You can allow customers to use their email address and special characters in their login name.

By default Miva Merchant does not allow any type of special characters including the ampersand and period in the “login” field when customers create a new user account.

The reason this happens is because a setting titled “Use Strict Validation for Codes” is enabled in the Miva Merchant Admin. Turn off “Use Strict Validation for Codes” and your customers can include any symbol they would like in their login name including a period and ampersand.

You should be careful when disabling this setting because it will also allow the use of special characters in product codes, category codes, attribute codes and just about every other code in Miva Merchant which can cause problems in the store URL’s. We never recommend using special characters in product codes or category codes for that reason.
