Speakable Schema Markup for Voice Search

Speakable Schema Markup for Voice Search

Speakable Schema Markup on Google Home DeviceGoogle’s new speakable schema markup may be a game changer for voice search. Although it is still in beta as of this writing (10/16/18), it seems promising.

The speakable markup allows Google Assistant-enabled devices using TTS to read the marked up text out loud. This includes web browsers, mobile devices and smart home devices.

One of the features that makes this particular markup so stellar and innovative is that you can specify the content of the speakable property using any of three separate types of content locators:

  • id-value
  • CSS Selectors
  • XPaths
